ABOUT THE PROJECT:

 STRANGERS IN MY GARDEN
 Among leaves, roots, and shadows, they emerge. They were never called. They observe in silence, motionless, as if waiting for the end of something or the beginning of something else. Strange and sometimes somber, neither friends nor enemies—just presences that steal the garden's innocence.

 This book brings together fragments from a personal collection of Designer Vinyl Toys, now comprising over six hundred pieces: figures from different brands, iconic models, and versions customized by dozens of illustrators. From the classic Dunnys and Munnys by Kidrobot, through the Rolito by Toy2R, to the Tokidoki universes by StrangeCo, among many others. A hybrid and contemporary art, born between graphic design, illustration, and urban culture, which also includes cult names such as Jeremyville, Kaws, or even lesser-known but equally unique creators.

 The intention was not to reduce these figures to mere objects on a neutral background. Instead, the aim was to play a game: to transport them to a real space, my garden, and allow them to come to life there. Like creatures without owner or destiny, they infiltrate among vases, plants, and shadows, staging a parallel universe—simultaneously playful and unsettling—where each image is a kind of unexpected encounter.

 ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

 Raul Reis, 51, is the creative director and editor of NO FRAME - Creative Studio. A graduate in Graphic Design from IADE, he initially worked in communication design and illustration before entering the advertising industry, where he worked as an art director for a wide variety of national and international clients. Following this venture, he created a multidisciplinary agency, BeNext, which he ran for 17 years. In 2019, he founded a publishing house where he curates and edits photography, illustration, and design projects. Today, alongside his creative direction of the agency and the publishing house, he uses his limited free time to explore photography and illustration projects and expand his extensive collections.
